A-W boys golf team drops a pair of close matches

For the second time this season, the Akron-Westfield boys golf team lost a match by less than five shots.  The Westerners fell to MMCRU 165-161 in conference dual at Marcus Golf Club on April 22.

A-W girls golf remains undefeated

The Akron-Westfield girls golf team continues to play consistently as they picked up their third win a row by beating MMCRU on April 22 at Marcus Golf Club.

The Westerners won 196-215, making it five straight matches with a team total under 200 as they picked up a 19-stroke win.

A-W girls track wins Hawk Relays

The Akron-Westfield girls track and field team earned four first place finishes in the Lady Orab Invitational at Sheldon on Aprill 21 to help them finish in the third place in the team standings.

Fay wins discus at Hawk Relays

The Akron-Westfield boys track and field dominated the relay events and Jordan Fay won the discus as the Westerners earned a second-place finish at the Hawk Relays in Hartley on April 25.

Schuknecht shoots season low to lead A-W

Lainey Schuknecht shot her lowest score of the season to help the A-W girls golf team to a win over Remsen St. Mary’s on April 17 at Akron Golf Club.

The War Eagle Conference held their academic banquet on Mar. 25 at Trinity Christian High School to honor students who are academically in the top 5% of their class.

Three big openings at A-W

Things will look a lot different in the coming months at Akron-Westfield as the Westerners will be replacing three successful coaches.

Kent Johnson, Todd Colt and Robyn Van Eldik have all announced they will not be coaching in the upcoming seasons.

A-W boys begin track & field season at USD

St. Pierre wins first at AAU Kids State

Cole St. Pierre won first place in the B-160 class at Iowa AAU Kids State Championship in Des Moines on Mar. 2.

A-W boys basketball awards

The Akron-Westfield boys basketball team closed out their first season under head coach Steven Husk with plenty of reasons for optimism.  The Westerners will return their leading scorer, Reegan McKee, next season as they try to build on a seven-win season.
