The Akron-Westfield baseball team opened the season with an impressive 8-2 win at Woodbury Central on May 20.

Will Hartman pitched six strong innings, striking out 10 while only allowing three hits and no earned runs.

The Akron-Westfield boys golf team earned a spot in the Class 1A State Tournament by finishing third in the district tournament at Willow Creek on May 19.

The Akron-Westfield girls golf team made it look easy as they earned a trip to the Class 1A State Golf Tournament by winning their regional by an impressive 14 strokes at Primghar Golf Course on May 21.

The Westfield city council officially accepted Jenny Hartman-Mendoza’s resignation for mayor at its Monday, May 19 meeting. 

Hartman-Mendoza’s official last day was May 16.
