Mary Lucken of Akron, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron. A Celebration of Life with lunch and refreshments will immediately follow at the Akron Fire Station.

Douglas H. Carlson Jr, 82 of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Sanford Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Hughes makes All State and All District

Akron-Westfield had six softball players make the War Eagle All Conference Team. The War Eagle Conference is currently made up of 11 schools all located in Northwest Iowa

Amber Cluts, a resident of Elk Point, has been rehired to fulfill a vital position in the library, meeting the need for a dedicated and experienced professional to inspire and educate young readers.
