American Legion baseball team to begin second year

The Albert E. Hoschler American Legion Post No. 186 is about to begin a second season with its Junior League baseball team. The team has players from Akron-Westfield as well as from surrounding areas and is coached by Brad Gaswint, Jeff Wahlberg, and Jeromy McCully.

It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win.

The Akron-Westfield girls’ basketball team will take an ugly W over a tough loss any day of the week.

In their first game in two weeks, the Westerners built a double-digit lead at home against MMCRU en route to a 43-33 victory on Jan. 16.

Akron-Westfield is on a roll, picking up wins in five of their last six contests. They are now 6-3 overall.
