On September 19, the Plymouth County Board of Supervisors reviewed some proposed changes to the county’s zoning ordinance.

Full of food, fun, and entertainment, the Plymouth County Historical Museum in Le Mars hosted its annual Log Cabin Day Sept. 23. Log Cabin Day honors the museum’s two log cabins located on the museum’s lawn - Joy Hollow Log Cabin and Weber Log Cabin.

Akron City Council discusses Fireworks

On September 19, the Akron City Council discussed potential updates to the city’s fireworks ordinance.

The discussion was sparked by yearly concerns that have been raised regarding the ability to set off fireworks in town during certain times of the year. The concerns cited pets and veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder as a reason as to why the window for citizens to set off their own fireworks in town to be shortened.

Board of Supervisors approve Homestead and Military Tax Credit

On September 12, the Plymouth County Board of Supervisors approved the 2023 Homestead & Military Tax Credit and Veteran Exemption Applications.

After approving the minutes and agenda, Resolution #091223-1 for the removal of the special assessment of $50 on parcel #23-24-100-009 for Keith Havener was approved.

The 2023 Homestead & Military Tax credit and Veteran exemption applications were approved.

At their last meeting, the construction of a new track and football stadium was approved by the Akron-Westfield School Board. This will be the first time the school has had an official track, and the sporting facility has been needed for a long time.
