The Akron-Westfield boys golf team claimed the top three spots in their match against Remsen St. Mary’s as they picked up a seven-shot win on April 17 at Akron Golf Club.

Scott Donald Heyl, 63, of Hartford, South Dakota, formerly of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in Roanoke, Virginia.

A-W students visit Capitol

Akron-Westfield students Saelah Boie, Gianna Greenleaf, Lux Larson, and Cass Moffatt traveled to the Iowa State Capitol on March 31 with Patty Anderson and Jacquilyn Boie to tour the State Capitol and meet with legislators. 

The students are four of the 37 National History Day participants who have qualified for the state competition to be held April 28 in Ames. 

Budget amendment gets OK from supervisors

The Plymouth County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing amending its fiscal year 2024-2025 budget on Tuesday, April 8.

Fatality victim identified

The individual who died as the result of a single-vehicle accident on Thursday, April 10, has been identified.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 43-year-old Wesley Webb of Sioux City.
